Kate Miller-Heidke
The Kate Miller-Heidke band features brilliant musicians from the Brisbane music scene. Kate’s versatile, virtuosic vocals and extraordinary range are partly the result of her intensive training as an opera singer while studying at the Queensland Conservatorium. As a highly accomplished classical singer, she has won many awards including Donald Penman Prize, Elizabeth Muir Prize, The Linda Edith Allen Memorial Prize and the Horace Keats Award.

As an Opera Queensland Developing Artist, Kate has performed in many productions including Sweeney Todd, Don Pasquale and A Masked Ball. In July 2005 she will make her solo professional operatic debut with Opera Queensland in the role of Flora in Turn of the Screw. Kate has regularly been a soloist with the Queensland Orchestra and has performed opposite Todd McKenney and Tom Burlinson in concerts such as Spirit of Christmas (broadcast nationally on the ABC) and Last Night of the Proms.

Recently featured alongside Chrissy Amphlett and Jenny Morris in the wildly successful Brisbane and Sydney seasons of Woman in Voice, Kate is now focusing on writing and performing her original music - her greatest passion.

‘ …a sensational performance by Kate Miller-Heidke. Not only does she have one of the most beautiful, versatile voices imaginable, she’s also confident assured, spunky and funny. Her pieces range from haunting, sliding melodies to a comic opera and her own pop songs. See her now, before she becomes a huge star!’ (Time Off, 2002)
