In 1999 Powderfinger's now quadruple platinum album Internationalist received critical acclaim at the 13th Annual Australian Record Industry Awards taking home awards in the categories: Album of the Year, Best Rock Album, Best Cover Artwork and, Record/Single of the Year for "Day You Come". Last January the popularity of the band's stunningly diverse sound was recognised further when their single "These Days" from the "Two Hands" soundtrack was voted Number 1 on national radio station, Triple J's annual Hottest 100 poll.

In May while the band was busy recording album number four Powderfinger were also named as 1999's Best Group and "These Days" was awarded Song of the Year at the 2000 Music Industry Critic's awards. Later in the month Powderfinger also received an Australia Performers Rights Association award for the Song of the Year for "Passenger". The immense commercial, critical and, popular success of Internationalist has all added to the anticipation surrounding Powderfinger's follow-up albums Odyssey Number Five and Vulture Street.

Powderfinger's charismatic vocalist Bernard Fanning belts out the lyrics with integrity, humour and passion haunting and wowing listeners the world over.
