Racism is the third album by Australia’s genius avant-tards The UV Race, dragging melodious pop songs through a devolved, malodorous glam-punk aesthetic. Racism continues the stylistic jump from their debut to sophomore, further exploring the first wave of punk, incorporating orchestral arrangements and gutter-glitter psych stomp [like if Bolan and The Fall put out a record on the Crass label!]. Tuneful lamentations of heartbreak alongside debased, toilet-humor punk licks; Lovecraftian psych-cult morbidity and anti-anthems against self denial... A productive year for UV Race - soon to launch their first feature film, Autonomy and Deliberation, and the soundtrack LP comes alongside Racism, a split 7-inch with Native Cats (on Ride the Snake), a split live LP with Eddy Current Suppression Ring, and the Gypsy King single (from Racism). All this, plus the output of other Melbourne bands with UV members - Asps, Dick Diver, East Link, Guy & Marcus Blackman Exp, Lower Plenty, School of Radiant Living, Soma Coma, Straightjacket Nation and Total Control. Relentless commitment!
