In 2001 and 2003, Dave Graney recorded and released two sly and sinister rock albums, Heroic Blues and The Brother Who Lived. Nearly a decade later, revisiting these albums Graney decided he wanted to release The Brother Who Lived digitally, but listening to the songs led to going back to the recordings
and tinkering, with not only this album but Heroic Blues too, and the result is Graney’s latest offering Supermodified. Supermodified is like a souped up, hot
rodded version of the original songs, with some extra tracks that got lost along the way. Graney and his band The Lurid Yellow Mist have put the songs up on the blocks, retuned them, restrung them, resung them and remixed them with the addition of more drums, percussion, vocals and keys. There are also 4 previously unreleasedtracks that have been inserted, bussed, sent, returned, compressed, tweaked, equalised, coloured and remastered - make no mistake, this is a brand new thing. Two of the standout tracks The Brother WhoLived and All Our Friends Were Stars, wereoriginally recorded with Greg Walker fromMachine Translations.A pop collection with an undoubtedly sleek,
dark and sinister thread running throughout.Think of it as an album for the True Blood/ Dollhouse age...
