STOMPY AND THE HEAT REVIEWS

 JB HIFI MAG
“Here comes Stompy, look out world!” Until now, Scott Wilson has been best known as Dan Sultan’s collaborator. But here he strikes out on his own, with “nothing left to lose, everything to prove”. Stompy’s brand of dirty blues shows he’s got the goods. There’s an inspired cover of Merle Haggard’s Honky Tonk Night Time Man, and a thumping surf/space instrumental, Alien Death Ray. Props to engineer Neil Gray for capturing the loose, raucous vibe. Wilson says: “To me, rock ’n’ roll should sound dangerous and a bit mental and not too clever.” Mission accomplished.
