If it ain't broke, don't fix it...unless your bass player leaves, then just make it even better..
Well, that's exactly what happened to Skinwalkers two years ago, forcing them to disappear and transform into Australia's newest two-piece. They announce their return with a new sound debuting with their first single 'Two's Company' to be released May 20 with a string of East Coast performances. Kicking off in a big way, they join Swedish Punk outfit Millencolin to support their Australian Tour at the Coolangatta Hotel on April 30.
Skinwalkers is and always will be best friends playing music, trying to make a difference in a world gone mad. Lach Jenno (Guitar/Vocals) and Matt Turner (Drums/Vocals) started the band in 2008. After racking up 7 more years working together in a journey that would make many give up (and many did), Skinwalkers is still standing.
Combining hard hitting drums, insurgent guitar riffs, high flying melodies, modern raps and old school roars, it may take you a moment to realise there's only two of them. Through the years, Skinwalkers has been known for writing songs that question the norms and put a light on issues affecting our world and how we live today.
The upcoming single, 'Two's Company' was one of a group of tracks recorded with producer Dave Atkins (Resin Dogs, Wolfmother) in Northern NSW. Originally intended as demos, the live tracks were recorded over three days in the studio as foundation for later recording. Instead, following a wave of positive feedback from fellow musicians, industry and peers, it was decided a single should be released.
The track was mastered by Steve Smart at Studios 301 Sydney, putting the final edge on an already punchy piece of music. As Lach explains, "It's no coincidence that we're dropping this song first, it lets us reflect on the past while laying the present on the table too. This song is personal, it's our bit of closure to the end of one chapter and a healthy reminder of how far we've come to get to the next one, our new beginning."
Skinwalkers are back in 2016 with purpose and plenty of venom, raw and ready for what comes next..
