With a voice that has been described as ‘both heart breaking and uplifting, Miriam's tales are presented rich, deep and resonating, not only lyrically but musically” –Drum Media

Pulling from the traditions of Latin, West African and Contemporary folk, Miriam accompanies her powerful vocals with kora – the 21 stringed African harp, acoustic guitar and even balaphone (West African xylophone).

“It's the ultimate musical experience for those that like listening to voice song and soulful grooves”. She performs solo as a duo with cellist Kate Adams as a five piece with her group of stellar musicians including multi percussionist Blair Greenberg and guitar master Rick Falkiner and double bass.

With a sellout launch and songs nominated for one of the 2010 Music Oz awards, Rhythms Magazine called her latest album ‘Wakeli' enchanting and catchy'. ABC Limelight gave it a ‘highly recommend' review' and Diaspora online magazine said “ Her pure voice floats effortlessly over rich West African Rhythms weaving in and out of English, Susu and Malenke - tribal languages of West Africa”.

Miriam's music continues on a line of adventure having just returned from 3 months in Mali, after receiving one of the 2010 JB Seed grants to further study kora under world renowned master Toumani Diabate. She is soon to release her third album penned in Mali. Its set to bring back more of that mix of songs infused with an adventurous spirit, infectious African rhythms and stories that leave you warm and uplifted

Her first album ‘Naked Without My Cello' was made possible by the Australia council and Completed in 2004. As well as creating a dedicated fan base, it propelled Miriam and Cellist Kate Adams onto the festival circuit around Australia.

Aside from playing as a soloist and with her band Some of her favourite musical experiences include performing in festivals and schools across Australia as narrator and musician for puppet theatre company Gongoma, performing at this years Voice of Bamako festival in Mali, performing at the 2006 Guinean national jazz festival headlined by Ali Farka Toure, touring remote communities of NT Australia and performing to sellout crowds as vocalist for the acclaimed dance piece ‘The Firebird.'
