The Arcane Saints are a four piece hard rock band formed by Michael John after moving to Melbourne from Auckland, New Zealand. As a relative of Iron Maiden founding member Steve Harris, music was always in Mikes blood and he began writing and performing his own songs at age 15. At age 20 he formed his first band which spent a few years playing the local live circuit. In 2006 he won an international songwriting competition and after becoming bored of the Auckland music scene he used some of the prize money to buy a one way ticket to Melbourne. Once there, the first incarnation of the Arcane Saints was born. Some initial line up changes followed before fellow kiwi’s Adam Crawford and Josh O’Connor were recruited on drums and lead guitar respectively. The highly talented lads had previously played in well known Melbourne metal band Rimend. Various bassists came and went before the band finally found someone with the right attitude and ability, Jim Luxford. The band’s catchy songs, killer live shows and exposure from supporting large acts such as Grinspoon have helped them gain a loyal fan base. The Arcane Saints have recently completed recording their debut E/P “Black Widow Dance” with Matt Voigt at Sing Sing Studios.
