The Ray Mann Three
The Ray Mann Three fuse D'Angelo's sex appeal with the grit of Tom Waits" – Sydney Morning Herald

From years of playing around Sydney's intimate late-night hideouts was born Ray Mann's 2008 debut album "The Ray Mann Three". The soul- and hip-hop-inspired record, characterised by sparse organic rhythms and intimate vocals, earned Ray and his band invitations to support such artists as Al Green, Tori Amos, Jamie Lidell, Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings and Roy Ayers. The album's release in Japan saw The Ray Mann Three debut to 3,000 fans who knew all the words - in English.

Over 2011-2012, Ray relocated to Berlin and launched an innovative online series titled The "Sketches" Project. As part of the project, Ray released new music and self-made, no-budget music videos, with audience collaboration, culminating in the release of his sophomore album, "Sketches". The experimental creative process has resulted in a broader musical palette, with Ray's soulful vocals featured over a mixture of laid-back serenades and more rocking singalongs, combining live instrumentation and electronic sounds with Ray's trademark low-fi aesthetic.
