Newtonheath is the brainchild of Matthew Ho and Rachel Warburton from Adelaide's Edison Music. Having spent 2006 overseas performing and writing for their debut album, Newtonheath returned to its Adelaide base in early 2007, with recruits, Daniel Gaskin (Sumi) and Shaun Reilly (Before It All Ends). Hitting the Australian live scene saw a warm welcome, playing with the likes of Blueline Medic, Liam Finn and Horsell Common, before withdrawing to the studio to record their debut album, released in November.
