Alex Hallahan's roots influenced music is like a great Brill Building melody and a Penguin Classic colliding.
‘A voice with both fragility and confidence, a songwriter with enormous depth and variety.’
- John Carver, Presenter Across The Tracks, PBSfm
After independently releasing his critically lauded 2008 debut album The Turning Wheel, much loved Melbourne artist Alex Hallahan is ready to make his next one, this time with an interdependent state of mind... and it’s gearing up to be one hell of a ride!
It's been a massive couple of years for Alex, on the back of The Turning Wheelrelease he has headlined and supported countless local Melbourne shows and residencies, toured along the east coast, played 'live' on many a radio station, on tv, for community events, at festivals, in dark bars, grand theatres, in gardens, with his band, on his own, with other artists, had airplay across the country, been featured in favourite release lists, bought a 2nd hand piano and somehow managed to do what he does best - write a great song... and the upcoming album is full of them!
Recording of the album commenced in December 2010 at Audrey Studios in Melbourne with renowned producer Craig Pilkington (Gurrumul, The Black-eyed Susans, Mick Thomas) behind the desk and producing. The album will be released in 2011.
