Eskimo Joe
Eskimo Joe emerged one day from the icy depths of a faraway rehearsal room, to perform their first gig, the first heat of the NAD National Campus Band Competition. Rather amusingly for them, they actually won! Two gigs later, they had won the semifinals and the state finals. On the way home from the state final victory, peals of laughter could be heard down the Freeway, along with the words, "We've fooled them all! We're not a band! We don't even own any equipment". Soon after the noise died down, a release and many a gig, they began talks with Modular Recordings.

Immediately after signing on the dotted line, the band delivered their freshly recorded ep to Modular in readiness for a June release. Recorded with producer Lindsay Gravina at his Melbourne studio in the earlier part of the year, the self titled 6 track cd features the current Triple J hits "ruby wednesday" and "turn up your stereo" along with other pop gems including "smo" and "super g". On the home front the band snagged themselves 5 nominations at Perth's local WAMI awards, and as part of their national tour which kicked off in July, Eskimo Joe were selected to represent new music in W.A. by headlining Triple J's unearthed gig in Geraldton, following up with a performance at Perth's ABC studios in front of 600 hometown locals for Triple J's "Live At The Wireless".
